Nigeria: Imo Trains 350 Youths in Computer Programme - AllAfrica.com

In its committedness to the United Nation's Millennium Developing Goals of halving the figure of people living in poorness by 2015, the International Maritime Organization State Government have trained 350 people in assorted computing machine programmes.

Special Adviser to the State Governor on Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Dent Amaefule, disclosed this in a statement to tag the graduation of 160 people who participated in the 2nd form of the programme.

Amaefule said the Agency of Poverty Relief which was inaugurated by the State Governor , Head Ikedi Ohakim embarked upon the computing machine preparation because of the importance of information engineering in the present information age and its possible in creating employment opportunities.

He said: "The push of current Nigerian authorities policy against poorness is to enable the mediocre and more than vulnerable subdivisions of society to accomplish sustainable livelihoods. The attack is to authorise communities, households and people through sustained well coordinated and comprehensive programme of poorness alleviation.

"One of the top tools for development is information and communicating technology. In consideration of this, our Agency taught it worthy to authorise International Maritime Organization people with this tool.

"Today we are proud to state we have got painstakingly trained 350 people qualified and certified not only to use themselves but others also in the field of ICT. One of our major schemes is to use very competent instructors exposed in this field to learn the trainees, providing enabling environment and adequate tools for them," he stressed.

He said that emboldened by the success of the computing machine preparation programme, the Agency for Poverty Relief bes after to broaden the enterprise by establishing three accomplishments acquisition Centres in the three geopolitical zones of the state.

According to him, the accomplishment Centres will have got the capacity to develop participants in about 25 specialised accomplishments including carpentry, car repair, manner designing and computing machine technology.

"The zonal accomplishment Centres are planned for the three geopolitical zones of the state. Each of the Centres can suit about 600 students. This connotes that about 1800 International Maritime Organization State natives will be equipped with specialised accomplishments within a time period ranging from six calendar months to one year.

"The undertaking will be a public/private sector programme which intends that the authorities will spouse with the private sector to accomplish the objective.
